A wedding day without the noise

A couple at the edge of a clifftop at sunset

You're probably not looking for a package in the usual sense. You want a day that feels like yours, calm and slow or a proper adventure. And you'd rather not carry every decision yourselves.

Chances are the experience pulls you first. Mountains, coastlines, wide open country. The feel of a place, the things you'll do, being there together, all of it matters more to you than timelines and expectations.

The way I work comes from 15 years of landscape and travel photography. Years spent reading light, waiting for the weather to turn, and working with whatever a place offers instead of forcing it into a plan. That carries straight into how I photograph an elopement. I move quietly and only direct where it's needed. Every elopement is shot on film alongside digital, which slows the pace and changes what gets noticed.

These packages are built around that rhythm: quiet guidance, room to breathe, and photographs that feel like the day itself.

Johanna & Alex in the Austrian Alps
"Rainer led us to beautiful places without us having to think about a thing. As complete beginners in front of the camera, we lost the fear of not being 'good enough' fast. He helped at just the right second, so we could stay in the day and enjoy it as a couple. His eye for scenery, light, and mood gave us photos even better than we'd pictured."

Johanna & Alex

Hi, I'm Rainer

I didn't come to elopements through weddings. I came through travel, landscape photography, and years spent outdoors, learning how to find the right places, how light moves, and how to stay calm when a plan changes.

For a long time that ran next to a six-figure career that looked good on paper and left almost no room for the work I cared about. After my own wedding, I understood how much these photographs can mean, and I wanted to make the same kind for other couples.

So I show up as a steady presence rather than a director with a checklist. Someone happy to make a call when it's needed, and just as happy to step back when the day takes care of itself. I care about how the day feels, about moving through a place with respect and leaving no trace, and about you feeling supported and fully yourselves.

Most couples don't leave feeling like they hired a vendor. They leave feeling like they spent the day with a friend who happens to be very good with a camera.

What sets this work apart

15+ years in landscapes and travel.

A long time spent reading light, weather, and place, now pointed at your day.

Calm when things shift.

Plans and conditions change outdoors. That's where I'm most useful.

Real respect for the place.

I work around people and landscapes with care, and leave no trace.

A style between observation and craft.

Quiet and unstaged, but shaped by years of an artist's eye for light and composition.

Film as a core part of the work,

not an afterthought. It changes how I see and slows everything down.

Used to guiding couples through unfamiliar places

without adding pressure.

Trust and ease matter as much as technical skill.

A day only works if you're comfortable in it.

Kristin & Alex on their wedding day
"We'd braced ourselves to be herded from pose to pose. Instead, nothing felt staged. We were at ease the whole time and could even throw in our own ideas. Rainer is basically the ninja of photographers: always there, never in the way. What matters most to us now is that the images put us right back in the feeling of that day."

What every elopement includes

Planning and day design, with no cap.

Everything around the day is shaped with clarity in mind, from locations and activities to a timeline that works with light, weather, and the natural flow of the day. Planning isn't limited to a set number of calls. We take the time the day needs, from first ideas and scouting to the small details near the end. Scouting is part of this rather than a separate extra. It's about understanding how a place works and where you'll want room to breathe.

What this means for you: fewer decisions, less second-guessing, and a plan that feels calm rather than overbuilt.

Location insight from 15+ years on the road.

More than 15 years of travel and landscape photography sit behind every suggestion. Some places I know well. Others I'll scout specifically for you, judging light, access, timing, and feel.

What this means for you: you're not limited to places I already know, and you're never guessing. You end up somewhere that feels right instead of rushed or crowded.

Low-pressure guidance.

I won't choreograph the day or direct your every move. Guidance is quiet, and offered only when it helps you settle in.

What this means for you: you're supported without being watched, and never asked to perform. Couples who don't love being the center of attention tend to feel at home with this.

Film and digital, every time.

Every elopement includes both. The approach blends quiet observation with a careful eye for light, shaped by years of landscape work. Film slows the pace and keeps things attentive and unhurried. It's a deliberate part of how I see.

What this means for you: images that feel lived-in and honest, and still carefully shaped by light and atmosphere.

A generous, cohesive gallery.

Your photographs arrive in a private online gallery, yours for a full year, curated so the whole set holds together. I don't work to image quotas. The number reflects the rhythm and scope of your day rather than a preset minimum.

What this means for you: easy access, simple sharing, and a body of work that feels whole.

No technical limits.

From aerial views to working near water or in awkward conditions, I adapt to the place.

What this means for you: room to choose freely, without wondering what's possible.

Travel always included.

Every package includes my travel cost. No per-day travel fees and no surprises, so you're never rethinking a location because of logistics.

What this means for you: clarity upfront, and freedom to pick the place that feels right.

A trusted creative circle.

Over the years I've built close relationships with a few creatives I enjoy working with, from videographers to other specialists. If it suits your day, I'm glad to connect you.

What this means for you: less searching, and people who already work well together.

Optional additions: a second photographer from my network, a videographer from trusted collaborators, multi-day coverage, expanded film coverage, or extended hours beyond your package.

"No pressure at the trial shoot or on the wedding day, we always felt in good hands. And we were surprised, in the best way, by how many edited photos we got and how fast (just a few weeks). If you want natural, professional images, even if you've never done a couple shoot before, Rainer's your guy. He adapts to anything, knows what counts, and won't let you down."

What happens next

01

Connect & Dream

A relaxed call to get to know each other, talk through your ideas, and see what the day could be. No prep, just a conversation to find out if we fit.

02

Plan & Prepare

If we go ahead, we shape locations, timing, and backups together. You lean on what I know about Europe, so planning feels clear instead of heavy.

03

The adventure day

The day unfolds at its own pace. I guide only when it helps, you stay present with each other, and I photograph it quietly.

04

Relive & Remember

A few weeks later, a hand-built gallery lands in your inbox, film and digital, ready to take you back whenever you want.

If this feels like your kind of day

Since you've read this far, you're probably not after something loud or for-the-crowd. You want a day that feels true to you, and someone who can guide it without taking it over.

The easiest next step is a conversation. No prep, no pressure, just a chance to see if this is a good fit.

A first conversation, not a commitment.

Please confirm that you are not a robot.

Frequently asked questions

01 Do you help with the planning, or just the photos?

Both, and the planning is a real part of it. From locations and timing to backup options, you're supported the whole way, so it feels clear instead of heavy.

02 We don't have a location in mind yet. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Plenty of couples start exactly there. We begin with what you're drawn to, the kind of landscape, the mood, the season, and narrow it down to places across Europe that work in real life.

03 Does an outdoor elopement have to be active or sporty?

No. It can involve a hike if you want one, but it doesn't have to. A short walk to a viewpoint, slow movement through a landscape, or staying mostly in one place all work just as well.

04 Can we visit more than one place during the day?

Yes. Many elopements move through a couple of locations as the light and mood change. The timeline is built so the transitions feel calm rather than rushed.

05 Is this introvert-friendly?

Very. The whole approach is quiet and low-pressure. Guidance is subtle, there's no performing for the camera, and there's plenty of room to just be together.

06 What if we want something simple and slow rather than an adventure?

That's completely fine. Some of the best days are the simplest: fewer locations, more time together, and room to take in where you are. A quiet morning in Mallorca's Tramuntana, a single alpine meadow in Austria, or a slow walk through a Tuscan hill town is often all a day needs.

07 How many photos will we get?

A generous, carefully chosen gallery that reflects how the day actually went. There's no strict quota; the focus is the whole day, not a number. So far, every one of my couples has ended up with more images than they expected.

08 Do you shoot film?

Yes, and not just a little. I've taken the time to really learn this old craft, and I've spent over a year of my personal work shooting almost exclusively on film. Every elopement includes both film and digital, and the film gives the images a natural, tactile feel that doesn't date.

09 Can we add a videographer or second photographer?

Yes, if it adds something to your day. I work with a small, trusted circle and can connect you with people who share the same calm, experience-led way of working.
